darkened centre, withered,
still standing just not quite as tall
but proud of a life lived.

Photo No 257 - The End (Sept 13th)
The snails won! :0(
If only I’d put the salt and eggshells down earlier. My days of mindfully caring for the sunflower are over. I tried and it did bloom at least. (Filter - 100 cameras in 1 - The dark feelings inside around midnight).
Photo No 243 - It’s over!! (Aug 30th)
That’s it. My love affair with snails is over. I caught three of the blighters red antennaed, sucking and sliming on my sunflower, with many more in reserve. It appears cayenne water doesn’t work (probably washed away by the rain anyway). Proceeded with more snail flinging and a generous splash of value salt round the base of the pot. My last line of defence. Should keep the ghost snails at bay also according to the Supernatural lore of Dean and Sam.

Prowling, blooming
Licking, grooming
Trying to come in
Trying to grow out

Photo No 216 - Garden Progress (Aug 3rd)
Thanks to my two helpful gardeners (aka Mum and Dad) my front garden is a lot tidier with bushes and trees all strimmed. Weeds/ plants pulled up and I now have a little path amongst the bushes again. Supposedly my next door neighbour said ‘Was she letting it grow so she could hide even more’. No, but if I start putting up barbed wire and camouflage fencing you’ll know that’s the reason- I’m just not a gardener, OK? ;0). Although saying that, my sunflower is now in a new huge pot and the top two pictures show you it’s tufty progress.
